We arrived at the most interesting part, namely the writing of articles and pages of your website or blog, in practice the forge in which to produce content. With simple steps you can write your first article and the pages of the navigation of the site or blog.
Writing and editing articles
From the Dashboard expand the menu items that you find on the left sidebar, by acting on the arrow in the upper right: This menu allows you to edit articles already written ( Edit ), write new posts ( Add new ), display the list of tags assigned to the post (Product Tags ) and creating blog categories ( Categories ).
Edit an article published
Clicking on Edit , you can view a list of articles that you have posted. From this screen you can edit these articles: The page has several functions. One of these, which you can see in the drop-down menu on the left, allows group actions : for example, you can select 5 posts by checking the appropriate boxes, and click Delete , then click Apply and remove at a stroke the 5 items.
When you post the pages and pages of search engine at the top right of the page will help you track down the faster the article to edit.
The two squares in the search engine allow you to view the list of posts as a simple list, as shown in the screen, or (by clicking on the right) showing also the summary of the post.
Edit a post: just bring mouse cursor over the title and you will see a pop-up menu:
Edit will open again the text editor you used to write and publish your post.
Quick Editinstead opens up a different editor, faster to load because more condensed, however, have everything you need to edit the title, url, category, tag, date of publication, to enter or change the password.
The link Delete and View allow, respectively, to eliminate it or view it online.
Write an article Choosing Add new menu items will open the page in your text editor, which will allow you to write an article, save it in your Drafts or publish it. The editor lets you format the text article by using bold, italics, lists, links.
First, choose a title for your article, you are going to write in the appropriate field under Add new post. In the field below write your article using either the editor (Visual) that the editor mode code (HTML) to your liking.
You can choose to write your article using a word processor such as Word or OpenOffice Writer, or directly to the editor.
You should write the text or paste text mode code because these programs use their own style sheet, adding the code in more than useless.
(The text editor will be explained in detail)
Once you’ve written your article, you assign it to the right category very important, as they represent, in essence, the arguments that will treat the site or blog.
To the right of the editor, under Tag items, find the menu categories . hence can very well create the categories of topics that will have your blog, then clicking on Add a new category .
In this case the Categories menu will expand to show the fields to create your new category, newly created categories put a check mark on that to which to allocate your article.
Save and publish articles
Before moving on to other operations it is good you to save your work in Drafts .
Next to the text editor, to the right, you will find the menu Public , using the button Save draft you can save your work in the Drafts and open it later for any changes; Preview allows you to see a preview of your item online, by clicking on Publish your article will be published and visible online so in the case of multi-author blog, in which items must be approved by an administrator before publication, contributors will, rather than public, the button Send for review .
Articles password protected
Also from the Publish menu available to you other functions that allow you to decide the visibility of your article: Public , Keep always on the front page , Password Protected , Private , Public, the default view. The post will be visible to all , Keep always in the headlines, the article will always be in the foreground , above all in sight, and not be covered by the new posts published.
Protected by password :
By ticking this box you will see a field for entering a password. The article will be published, but visible only to those who know the password. In the blog you will see the written word ” Protected “before the title, and instead of the article, the text This post is password protected. To view it please enter your password below.
Private : the post will be visible only to administrators. In the blog users and visitors will not see that post.
Published in the past and the future
An interesting and useful feature in the Publish menu is Edit next to Publish immediately : that is, as published in the past and in the future your articles.
Clicking on Edit menu expands and you can change the day, month, year, hour and minute of the date of publication of our article.What is the point?
Published in the future is to program the output of your articles . This can be useful if you know you will not be able to update the blog in a given period, thus prepared the first of the articles and I planned output.
Or if you have a lot of material to be published and want to go out with a certain rate and not all in one day.
Published in the past can be used, for example, if you open a website or blog with a blog created and replace with a different platform, and you can not import the database. At that point you’ll have to copy and paste all your articles one by one and, thanks to the Edit menu, so respect the date of publication. Obviously it will take some time for the articles are all indexed again.
Status of an item
The State of Article gives us three items: Published , Pending Review , Draft .
Clicking the Edit link opens a drop down menu that displays these entries and will allow you to change the visibility of the post.
Published will appear when we open an article just published already.
Draft , however, when we begin to write a new one, because the article is still in draft stage.
Pending review when a user of the site or blog wrote an article that should be viewed by administrators before publication.
Private appear only if we published a post that will be visible to administrators.
Summary of an article
You have the option to display on the home page is the article in its entirety as a summary of it. If you opt for the latter choice, the home page will automatically insert the first 55 words of your article.
It ‘can, however, write a summary of the article, how many words you want, in summary you see in the text editor.
The summary will be visible if you set the home page of the blog so that it does not display the contents of the article but its extract , analysis of this aspect in customization of the site or blog .
